Alyssa Schwann was educated in design and landscape architecture at the University of Manitoba. Her professional experience includes practice as a landscape architect and urban designer in Canada, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands with projects in North America, Europe, and North and South Africa. Since 2007, Alyssa has been growing a multi-disciplinary practice in Vancouver - Rural Urban Fantasy (RUF) Project - with her partner, Sean Pearson. Their international portfolio of work includes installations, public space, gardens, architecture and brand/retail.
Previously, she spent several years at West 8 in the Netherlands as a project leader and landscape architect, with a focus on public space, gardens and parks. Prior to West 8, Alyssa worked with Chris Blandford Associates in London UK on large-scale urban design & infrastructural projects as well as historically-listed parks and gardens.
Locally, Alyssa is involved with several non-profit organizations and committees, including the Gastown Heritage Area Planning Committee, Heritage Vancouver, the Design Foundation of BC and Architecture for Humanity. Alyssa has been involved with UBCSALA since 2009.
