Rebecca's practice hovers the line between art and architecture. She maintains her own art studio (www.spacemakeplace.blogspot.com,www.rebeccabayer.com), works at the award-winning Vancouver firm Bricault Design, and also teaches architecture at UBC SALA. Rebecca's research interests include: haptic architecture, infrastructural potentials, and public urban engagement. Her work is influenced by the active interconnections between object, body, environment, and consciousness.
Rebecca received a BFA from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, a MA Fine Art (sculpture and installation) from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, England, and a M.Arch from the University of British Columbia.
She received the following awards while pursuing her M.Arch: Architecture Institute of British Columbia Scholarship (2005), Ray Cole Scholarship - sponsored by Busby, Perkins & Will (2006), Vaughn Berg Memorial Scholarship (2008), Nomination for the Prix de Rome in Architecture for Emerging Architects (2008).
