Notions of territory are at the core of the definition, commoditization and contestation of space. The post-modern notion of time-space collapse brings a new dimension to the construction of territory. This course will examine major theories of territory and urban form from the past century. Such texts will serve as a background against which to situate contemporary texts regarding time-space collapse with current urban and architectural practice. Authors to be read include David Harvey, Saskia Sassen, Paul Virilio and Edward Said.
