This studio course introduces students to landscape architectural design at the human scale in the campus context of UBC.  As the first studio the course will help students develop spatial literacy, analytic skills, critical design thinking, the use of media to communicate design ideas, knowledge of materials and approaches that have low impact on the environment, and the use of precedent from landscape architectural practice. Throughout the term, students will develop an iterative design process that responds to critiques from the professor, TA, peers, and visiting reviewers in the form of desk-crits, pin-ups, silent reviews, and juried reviews.
