An exploration of the conceptual, ecological, and practical aspects of the integration of digital wood fabrication technologies in today’s design and building culture. Seminar research includes studies of wood building materials and their properties, regionally specific design and building techniques particular to the application of wood fabrication technologies, precedent studies, and explorations of fabrication technologies and related software applications. Where appropriate, the course may include the use of available digital wood fabrication technology as well as design-build projects that expand on the ideas and concepts developed as part of the research in the seminar.
