This professional practice course explains and exemplifies how formal education fits within the context of a lifelong career. It exposes students to numerous career tracks and forms of practice. It introduces the ethical, legal, and administrative issues encountered in landscape architectural practice and clarifies the procedures for licensure in landscape architecture in the U.S. and Canada and in B.C specifically. Specifically students will understand the ethical, legal, and administrative context of the landscape architecture profession; explore the mandates and relationships between the professional organizations, and regulatory bodies of the profession; understand licensing procedures in British Columbia; understand the mandates of professionals in public, private and academic practice; gain exposure to practicing landscape architects and understand some different areas of the field; begin career planning.
