Sort Courses By:
Objectives:
To examine problems and issues of site analysis and design based on student research and professional interests.
Description:
A seminar for students with an interest in site analysis and design beyond that offered by foundation courses in landscape architecture and architecture. Topics change from year to year depending on student background and interests, but typically include topics such as water management, urban microclimate, open space and biodiversity, and site adaptive design. Open to advanced students in the landscape planning and design fields.
Learning Outcomes:
We are concerned that the students further their knowledge and skills to:
1. Identify and articulate significant problems in site analysis and design;
2. Provide an intellectual context appropriate for discussion; and
3. Lead an intellectually stimulating group discussion.
Products:
The course calls for three products:
First, a problem statement with references to supporting literature and rationale for choice of the discussion topic.
Second, preparation and presentation of one seminar session complete with handouts such as key papers from the literature.
Third, active participation in all seminar session.
Evaluation:
Evaluation is based first on the quality of individual presentations and second on overall participation in the seminar as a whole.
