INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

The program periodically offers international field trips and courses in association with other universities or other UBC programs. In recent years, courses and field trips have taken place in the Netherlands, Japan and Greece and in North America, in Portland, Seattle and San Francisco.

In addition, students may take up to 9 units of independent course work examining issues, policies, and places in other parts of the world. These are particularly important for students interested in recent developments in urban design, new landscape theories, issues of sustainable community development, issues in developing countries, or even about the nature and history of places much closer to home. These independent courses normally happen during the summer semester.
