Landscape Architecture Resources

 

The UBC Landscape Architecture is presently located in the middle of the Point Grey Campus. The Landscape Architecture Annex at 2371 Main Mall houses the Landscape Architecture Studio. The neighboring Macmillan Building at 2357 Main Mall is home to the Landscape Architecture Program office, faculty offices and the LARC Computer Lab.


Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design Program Office

Located in Room 379 on the third floor of the Macmillan Building the Program Office provides a front-line location for enquiries and making contact with the Programs. Here you will find staff member, Dorothy Tran who coordinates the daily life of the Program’s admissions and student records. The Faculty member offices are located just down the hall.

The Landscape Architecture Studio

Students in the MLA program are assigned a studio work-space through our annual “desk lottery” at the beginning of each academic year. Students from all three year levels within the program work side by side, encouraging a culture of peer learning and support. The upper two levels of the building are designated student work spaces. Studio provisions include drawing and layout tables, and a secure, twenty-four-hour-accessible environment with wireless and internet connections. The collective, collegial atmosphere of the School’s design studios requires that students treat their own workspaces and allied common areas with appropriate, professional respect. The lower levels of the building include a common area for student leisure and discussions and the adjacent “Jury Room” for presentations and reviews.

The Landscape Architecture Computer Lab

The Landscape Architecture Computer Lab is located in room 378 – 2357 Main Mall and is fully equipped with the following technology:

  • 20 computer work stations
  • 2 colour scanners (one 11x17 and one 8.5 x 11)
  • HP Designjet 4500 Scanner
  • 2 large scale HP Plotters
  • 1 black & white and colour Laser Printer


Software available in the lab includes;

  • AutoCAD 2010;
  • Vectorworks 12.5.1;
  • ArcGIS 9;
  • Google SketchUp 6;
  • Google Earth 4.1;
  • Adobe Creative Suite 3 and
  • Microsoft Office Suite
