Access
A door access code (available from LARC / ENDS program office in MCML 370) is required to enter. A user login (see instructions below) is required to log onto the computers in this lab.
To acquire a user login for the machines in MCML 378: LARC and ENDS students are preauthorized to register for user logins. Others, enrolled in ENDS or LARC courses, for example, must first obtain authorization to register via the LARC / ENDS program office in MCML 370.
Once authorized to register, go to one of the six machines labeled ‘terminal server’ in MCML 194. Click on the ‘sign up’ tab and follow instructions displayed. A student number and email address will be required. Once registered, allow approximately 20 minutes for the system to update before attempting to log on to the computers in MCML 378.
Introduction
The HP Design Jet 4500 is a large-format scanner with efficient copy and scan features. Color copying, color scanning, black-and-white copying, black-and-white scanning is all gathered in one. It is easy to work with its touch screen graphical display and embedded operating system plus a small keyboard for data entry. It is an Intel Pentium 4, 2.6 GHz processor and 40 GB memory for scanned jobs. It has a DVD/CD and 2 USB connections to export the data.

Start scanning
Make sure the yellow power light on scanner is ON and turn on the touch screen.
Power key is at bottom side of the screen.
No tapes and stickers can go into scanner·
Make sure they are covered if you stick a tracing paper on a thicker paper.
If the scanner ribbon is dirty, use clear acetate sheet to protect and clean it.
Insert the page face down and straight until scanner grabs it.
Click Scan to start scan. (Paper will roll down and then scan.)
Fast preview shows the final output.
Choose where to be saved.
Log out when done.
Turn off both screen and Scanner.
