READING ROOM

While the central Art + Architecture + Planning, UBC Library [AArP] houses the primary architecture and landscape architecture collection on campus, the Architecture Reading Room serves as a circulating library, study space, Materials Library and AV facility within the Lasserre Building. The Reading Room maintains 24 active subscriptions to a selection of key architecture and design journals. The monograph and journal collection reflects the courses of instruction, student interests, faculty research and Studies Abroad. The Architecture Reading Room's collection is composed of approximately 4000 monographs, 50 journal titles, 20,000 slides 1,500 graduating projects, product sample materials and a small archival collection. Recommended readings are kept at the reading room desk on reserve. Since 2007 through the Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund we developed a Digital Image Collection which consists of 5200 images. Images were photographed and catalogued by students primarily attending the Studies Abroad Program, other collections include Canadian architecture available on our SALA website under Reading Room.

The Reading Room houses two computer workstations that connect to the campus library system and the Internet, providing access to extensive online resources. In addition to the computer workstations, the Reading Room houses a flatbed scanner, slide scanner, cd burner, and photocopier for faculty, student and staff use.
